A Personal Journey to Compassionate Care
Dr. Brown’s own experiences sparked her interest in functional dentistry, particularly tongue-tie revisions. She experienced the distress of her infant son’s relentless colic symptoms. In a constant state of tension and discomfort, he would remain awake for days at a time with only very short naps. She then discovered the transformative impact a tongue-tie revision would have on their lives. The procedure, along with various bodywork, brought immediate relief for them both as he transformed into a happy, contented baby.
A subsequent cancer diagnosis in her family motivated her to research alternative treatments, and what contributes to skyrocketing rate of cancer diagnosis, which further sparked her interest in dentistry as a path to health and healing. Today, driven by her experiences, she offers biological dentistry in Grand Island for all ages.
A Brighter Start for New Mothers
One area Dr. Brown-McDonald is particularly passionate about is working with new mothers struggling with the physical and emotional challenges of nursing problems. With a deep understanding of their frustration, she listens to their stories, empathizes, and recommends transformative lip and tongue-tie revisions when appropriate. We collaborate closely with lactation consultants to help mothers and newborns. Our dental clinic in Grand Island also has a quiet room where new moms can nurse and work with our in-house speech-language pathologist.
We also have myofunctional therapy, an exercise training program for the muscles around your face, mouth, and tongue, provided in our office by Prairieland Myofunctional Therapy. This therapy addresses breathing, chewing, speaking, and swallowing issues, as well as sleep-disordered breathing.
Dr. Brown is a TBI Ambassador and trained in the Safe Mercury Amalgam Removal Technique (SMART). She is a member of the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology, the American Academy for Oral Systemic Health, and The Breathe Institute.
